ASSITEJ Coffee Session
Join the second round of conversations on 10 November 2021!
There is a concern within ASSITEJ membership that Cultural Education is being eroded. Currently many countries offer only a STEM curriculum. STEM is an abbreviation for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM degrees often have an interdisciplinary, hands-on educational approach and they prepare students for a world which needs more researchers, engineers, computer scientists… How and why should we support a STEAM curriculum? – the A is forthe Arts – humanities, language arts, dance, drama, music, visual arts, design and new media.
Join us for 3 coffee sessions online entitled “Cultural Education around the world – What is the place of Drama and Theatre?”
- Session 1 (on 20 Oct) : What is the world scene? What is the state of Primary and Secondary cultural education in your country, – What is its status? How is it perceived? Who gets it? What are the problems? Where is the hope?
- Session 2 (on 10 Nov): How can we raise the profile of Drama and Theatre in education and access to it for all children ? How can we better use the ASSITEJ manifesto? How can we include the voice of young people?
- Session 3: (on 1 Dec) Steps towards an action plan to effect change, how to implement, what to do?
Each session will be repeated in two time zones.
