DIVA - Danish International Visiting Artists Exchange Programme

In order to encourage the exchange between Danish and foreign artistic life the Danish Arts Council has established an artist-in-residence-programme in Denmark called DIVA (Danish International Visiting Artists Exchange Programme). The programme is developed on the basis of positive experiences from a similar programme within the area of the visual arts. The overall purpose with the programme is to further dialogue within the world of the arts by introducing foreign artists to Danish artists and the Danish arts scene and encourage them to actively contribute to the development of this arena.

The DIVA programme makes it possible for art and culture institutions, municipalities and other relevant professional players as hosts to invite foreign artists and artistic groups within the sphere of the Danish Arts Council (i.e. visual arts, music, literature and performing arts) to stay and work in Denmark for a longer period of time, typically 1-6 months. Architects, designers and film directors will not be eligible, unless they are considered to be contributing to the development of such art forms as are covered by the programme.
