World Congress 2011
in Copenhagen/Malmoe!
ASSITEJ Denmark/Sweden to host the world’s largest event for professional Theatre for Children and Young People in 2011!
At the 2008 ASSITEJ World Congress which has just taken place in Adelaide, Australia – the Danish and Swedish ASSITEJ Centres presented their bid to host the next Congress in May 2011. In strong competition with Linz, Austria and London, UK - we were fortunate enough to win!
The event is to take place in Copenhagen / Malmoe and will focus on collaboration across national and cultural borders. Our theme will be: ”BUILDING BRIDGES, CROSSING BORDERS”.
We believe it to be quite a sensation, as it is the first time ever that a large-scale event of this kind will take place in Copenhagen/ Malmoe. The Congress offers among many other things an international theatre festival with shows from all over the world, seminars and workshops, collaboration projects, meetings, etc. We expect a total of about 1,500 participants including delegations and participating theatres representing about 80 different countries. Next to that about 20,000-25,000 spectators from both Denmark and Sweden will have access to the various performances.
